Turn towards God,
with a spirit of repentance and charity
towards your neighbor this Jubilee Year.
By: Bishop John G. Chedid

The Jubilee Year, as we all know, began at Christmas Eve 1999, when the Holy Father opened, through an impressive liturgical ceremony, the appropriate door at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. This ceremony was echoed throughout the Catholic world by the ordinaries of every diocese an Eparchy opening the doors in their own respective Cathedrals, in union with the Holy Father. This simple and yet solemn gesture signifies for us Christians the presence of Christ, Lord of history throughout the world. The Catholic Church intends to honor Christ throughout the whole year which has been guided by the theme: "Open wide the doors to Christ."
